Tested for comfort at -30°C/-22°F

Several factors influence the temperature ratings of winter boots: climatic conditions, type of physical activity and the boot’s wearer’s metabolism…

Although there is no industry standard for temperature ratings of winter boots, Gödik submits its boots to rigorous testing. The quality of the components, insulating properties and the thickness of the soles of Gödik boots have been carefully chosen to let you enjoy winter.

Leather Upper

Leather Upper

The properties of leather are numerous and varied, making it a unique material and ideal for the manufacture of boots and shoes. Depending on the parts chosen, it will be resistant and supple (full flower) or will offer good resistance to abrasion and tear (crust). Other characteristics can be attributed to it by specific treatments such as the water repellent treatment to give it water resistance and make it washable while maintaining its flexibility after drying.

The list of advantages of leather is therefore consistent: Resistance to tearing, abrasion. Perforation, fire: Leather is naturally non-flammable, good thermal insulation: Leather contains a lot of air, which is a thermal insulation. Permeability to water vapor: Leather fibers can retain large amounts of water vapor. This property allows the leather to absorb perspiration, which then dissipates, representing a significant factory in terms of comfort. The leather is said to be ‘’breathable’’. Thermostatic properties: Leather is warm in winter; cool in summer, due to thermal insulation.

Waterproof Construction

Waterproof Construction

For a product to bear the Gödik "Waterproof" seal,  it must meet quality standards that are among the most stringent of the footwear industry. All construction materials are waterproof. A waterproof breathable membrane is sewn inside the boot to keep feet dry. The membrane is manufactured in the shape of sock, and tape is applied to its seams with waterproof glue for sealing that prevents any infiltration of water.

Each waterproof membrane is tested before being used in the manufacturing of boots. Throughout the production chain, pairs of boots are sampled at random to be tested in the laboratory for their waterproof sealing.

Thinsulate™

Thinsulate™

If a boot bears the Thinsulate label, its insulating properties are guaranteed to be exceptional. Thinsulate is a unique microfiber developed by 3M to allow humidity to escape but body heat to stay.

Scotchgard 3M™ Protector

Scotchgard 3M™ Protector

Applied directly during tanning process or at the factory while production, Scotchgard ™ offers integrated water protection. Leather is a fine material but nubuck and suede are unfortunately very susceptible to spotting. Scotchgard™ helps prevent dirt and water from penetrating the leather. Scotchgard™ increases the strength and durability of leather articles. It makes them easier to care for while maintaining the flexibility and beauty of the leather or synthetic materials.

It is recommended to regularly apply spray after use when needed.
